A visit to MEI’s UK Event Summit
Highlights for me included the panel discussions on The Future of Live Events, with a panel of industry experts
When ‘The Muppets take the O2’ live performances arrived in London this July, Eat to the Beat was on-hand from 9th-14thJuly to provide delicious catering behind the scenes for the production’s extensive cast and crew.
Working for promotor AEG Presents, Eat to the Beat provided a full range of catering for the rehearsals held at LH3 Neg Earth from the Monday through to Wednesday. Food was prepared onsite at LH3 Neg Earth from one of Eat the Beat’s fully equipped kitchen trucks, set up in the car park with an adjacent marquee, with chefs cooking lunch and dinner for up to 90 each day.
From Thursday onwards, the team moved to the O2 for a final dress rehearsal ahead of the show days on the Friday and Saturday. Using a rig kitchen onsite the team catered for up to 150 people, plus all dressing room requirements.
This was not only The Muppets first ever full length live show in the UK, but in Europe and a host of stars, including: Kylie Minogue, Steps, David Tenant, Charles Dance and Kevin Bishop, joining Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie and co. onstage. Alas, whilst the Swedish Chef was in attendance, cooking haggis no less, he didn’t head backstage to lend the team a hand!
