Cirque du Soleil’s latest touring production of TORUK: The First Flight, inspired by James Cameron’s blockbuster film AVATAR, has been thrilling audiences since December 2015 with its visionary storytelling, stunning sets and powerful performances. As the travelling behemoth rolls into mainland Europe for spring 2019, the spectacular production’s mind-blowing feats are a show of strength and stamina; often fuelled by a high protein diet and a healthy eating regime.

Eat to the Beat has been with the tour since October 2018, catering for TORUK’s crew and cast members, which have worked so hard to bring the show to life.  From 10th October until January 30th team Eat to the Beat have been touring the globe with Cirque du Soleil, feeding 112 crew and artists per day, six days a week. Visiting Rotterdam, Berlin, Zagreb and Barcelona, to name a few, preparing healthy and nutritious meals for a troupe of skilled acrobats, performers and artists.

High protein lunches and dinners have been served alongside nutritious salad bars, nuts, dried fruits and refreshing juices. Plus, specific dietary requirements have been taken into consideration, making sure that everyone on tour has been catered for.

Mary Shelley-Smith, global operations director at Eat to the Beat, commented on the project: “TORUK: The First Flight is a truly immersive experience that has captured the imaginations of audiences across the world. Eat to the Beat has had the massive pleasure of catering for the production’s entire cast and crew – a task that has captured our imagination, as we have created a myriad of healthy eating options in order to meet the dietary requirements of the performers.”

She continued: “TORUK: The First Flight places huge demands on the artists so we have matched their dietary needs and have fuelled them with high quality ingredients to ensure a high quality performance. It’s been great fun to work with the Cirque du Soleil team. I just hope they never ask us to perform any of the amazing stunts. We’re quite happy in the kitchen!”
