GIG was delighted to showcase a selection of UK themed dishes for a recent meeting of international country participants Expo 2020 Dubai.
Held at Lancaster House on 29th January, 45 delegates from all over the world, including Australia, USA, France and Luxembourg were in attendance. It was the perfect opportunity to tease some of the fantastic flavours from all corners of the UK that Expo 2020 visitors can expect at the UK Pavilion.
Delegates were welcomed with warm sweetened almond milk with turmeric, rose petal and ginger and handmade Kentish cob nut and honey energy bar. Throughout the day, dishes served included savory welsh cakes with Forman’s smoked salmon and horseradish cream; Glamorgan, Caerphilly and leek sausage with cumberland sauce; Isle of Skye smoked Dexter beef with stew and thyme dumplings and Wye valley lamb cutlet with lava bread and oatmeal croquettes, and caramelized shallots.
These were followed by amazing cupcakes from award winning entrepreneur Mich Turner MBE. As one of the world’s leading authorities in cake design, the Little Venice Cake Company has created cakes for celebrities and international royalty including Her Majesty The Queen, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Paul McCartney, Emma Thompson, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Gordon Ramsay and David Beckham.
