Widely regarded as television’s biggest night of the year, the National Television Awards (NTAs) returned to the O2 Arena in London on Tuesday 22nd January 2019 for its 24th outing. The star-studded ceremony saw GIG deliver a wide range of crew, media, guest and VIP catering services.

More than 70 of GIG’s experienced crew, including 12 chefs were involved, the core team arrived onsite on Sunday 20th January to freshly prepare a delicious selection of dishes and look after everyone involved in the NTAs. Initially they served 1,970 crew meals during the two-day build and a further 650 on show day. They also ensured that 100 members of the press had access to wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks, and the Green Rooms complimentary bar and snacks were also kept well stocked.

On the night itself, the GIG team dished up a delicious array of canapés, bowl food and tempting desserts at the pre-show reception for the nominees and after- show party. These included: sliced rear steak, chimichurri sauce & sweet potato puree; brioche lobster rolls with wasabi tobiko, coriander mayo & crispy seaweed; duck parfait, port jelly, brioche croute, brown butter pumpkins, goats’ cheese, sage crumb & micro basil, along with churros and chocolate sauce for desert. Whilst the champagne and other drinks flowed freely at several the exclusive pre and post show after party for VIP’s, alongside the Star Treatment reception held for guests

Commenting on the catering provided by GIG for the 17th year in succession, long-standing client, Robyn-Marie Towle, event producer at Indigo Television said: “Once again, the team at GIG were fabulous to work with and the food and service delivered was exceptional. On television’s biggest night of the year, as the event organiser, you want to know that the catering for the event is in safe hands. So, I can’t thank them enough for all their support in the run up to and during the event itself, it really does make a huge difference.”

Winners on the night included ratings success story Bodyguard, who took home the awards for New Drama and Drama Performance; This Morning won Daytime Programme again whilst I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here received the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award and Ant and Dec were once again crowned TV Presenter for the 18th year and have subsequently been awarded a Guinness World Record.
