A visit to MEI’s UK Event Summit
Highlights for me included the panel discussions on The Future of Live Events, with a panel of industry experts
The great and the good of the live production industry gathered on Monday 23rd May for the long-awaited return of the TPi Awards 2022. Back at London’s Battersea Evolution, over 1200 people attended the event that saw 30 awards presented on the night. Amongst them was the accolade of Favourite Catering Company which was presented to Eat to the Beat, the artist and crew catering division of Global Infusion Group.
Eat to the Beat’s success at the TPi Awards is legendary, so much so that the company was entered into its Hall of Fame back in 2015. Given the importance of nutritious and tasty food for both crew and artists and the impact it can have on an event’s success, organiser Mondiale Media Limited felt that the time was right to re-instate it.
With attendees drawn from all corners of the live music business and wider event production community, the TPi Awards acknowledge and reward the achievements of the most talented and successful individuals and service companies working within the industry.
Commenting on Eat to the Beat’s return to glory, global operations director Mary Shelley-Smith, said: “It was fantastic to win the Favourite Catering Company award on its return and regain our title. It’s always been a firm favourite with the team and it’s particularly special as winners are selected via an industry vote. It speaks volumes about the food and service we deliver and acknowledges the hard work of every single member of the team”.
Global Infusion Group’s CEO, Bonnie May adds: “It’s been an incredibly difficult few years for the industry and we’ve faced more challenges than most with the sudden loss of our founder Tony Laurenson in January 2020. We pledged that we would ‘ride on….’, work hard and continue to deliver on his legacy. Winning the Favourite Catering Company at the TPi Awards was always very important to him and I know he would be very proud of what the team has achieved.”
