Barclaycard presents British Summer Time

When Barclaycard presents British Summer Time returned to London’s Hyde Park this July, event catering specialist GIG was on-hand to serve up a delicious food experience for the artist’s area across both weekends. Having worked with the team at AEG Presents, Loudsound and Proper Productions since the festival’s inception in 2013, team GIG returned to deliver artist riders, meals for the headliners, acts, their support teams and festival crew.

Held over the weekends of 6th – 8th July and 13th – 15th July, the line-up for this year’s British Summer Time included Roger Waters, The Cure, Eric Clapton, Michael Buble, Bruno Mars and Paul Simon.

British Summer Time stats:

  • 15 strong GIG team
  • 90 dressing room riders
  • almost 4000 lunches and dinners
  • 300 breakfasts
  • 1 Living Bar! Juicing Station
  • World Cup ‘Happy Hour’

The team created a stylish temporary artists’ dining room transformed into a summer garden. Bespoke menus were created, with dishes to suit a wide range of palettes and dietary requirements.

In addition, the England football team reaching the semi-finals out at the World Cup in Russia meant that the Hyde Park site was completely transformed the UK’s largest Fanzone (and the largest free football screening in London since 1996) in a 48-hour window. The GIG team got a call at 1am on Sunday 8th July that catering would be required for all the crew involved.

The dining room was kept up to date with all footballing successes and failures with a steady stream of cheers and boos from the GIG kitchen, where a TV was a necessity!
